Safe Lay Bets System Review
As the name, Safe Lay Bets, implies this is a laying tipping service priced at £49.99 per month and selections are E-Mailed to you the previous evening with the mumber of selections varying between only a few on a quiet Sunday to over 20 on a busy Saturday. Subscription also gives you access to the provate members area, so if you are not around email but can get on the web, the selections are always available.
The Safe Lay Bets author, Dr Terence Cole, claims all selections will show a success rate of around 85% & be profitable, but he prefers only laying those selections at 8.00 & above at Betfair SP & these he claims show a success rate of 94% and are layed to a maximum limit of 15pts. The history behind the service is that Terence spotted a trend back in 2009 when Safe Lay bets was born. He has since proven that trend with actual statistics, the full results of which are available on the Safe Lay Bets website.
For the purpose of this trial I will give totals for all selections to a 15pt lay limit & also those selections at 8.00 & above. I will also show totals to 1 pt level stake lays for the less adventurous amongst us.

The method supplied suggested that for best results we should concentrate only on those selections priced at 8.00 & above and lay those to a 15pt liability. Records suggested a win ratio of over 94% and a bank of at least 100 pts was recommended. Unfortunately during our 35 day test the win ratio was only 90.48% and a loss of 90.44 pts ensued.
If we look at the results to a 1pt level stake lay which I believe is a true test of any system,the results make even worse reading.
One positive perhaps to those not adverse to large exposure and with a substantial Betfair balance is that All selections layed to a 15 pt liability produced a healthy 149 pt profit. This is due mainly to a number of short priced losers which of course at odds on produce a profit in excess of 15pts per bet. It should be borne in mind however that some days there were in excess of 20 selections and unless running a bot you would need to be in front of your computer from 2.00 to perhaps 9.00 or alternatively have a Betfair balance of over 300 pts. This is clearly impracticable to all but a few.
Therefore I cannot recommend following Safe Lay Bets to the vast majority of punters, but there may be scope for profit for seriously big players who don’t mind laying horses at prices very often in excess of 20.

Just received an email from you in addition to the one from (Fazzy) and you’ve gone up in my estimation as a result. Incidentally, CashMasters are just as bad at recommending utter crap.
Trouble is it’s the same old problem, they get paid from referals a handsome (in some cases) commission and this is in direct conflict to be honest and ethical.
Systems per se DO NOT WORK however, there are effective methods that can be termed as “systems” but in actual fact are more akin to a methodology with the right discipline, money management, analysis and most important of all PSYCHOLOGY. Then there’s a chance of success in the most important of all…………….LONG TERM.
You see, as you are only too well aware many systems/methods can work in the short term and even the medium term BUT it’s the LONG TERM that is the holy grail. Plus it’s worth mentioning that most punters fail because they have the inane ability to ensure they will fail ultimately because of the lack of DISCIPLINE, MONEY MANAGEMENT, EFFECTIVE ANALYSIS & PSYCHOLOGY.

Thanks for your comments and I (and Matt) couldn’t agree with you more. We always try to get over to people that if you are going to be sucessful with a system you have to stick with it for the long term.
We have no problems with calling something for what it is here on OBE, even if everyone else is singing its praises. If we review a system and it hasn’t worked, then it has failed… simple as.
But if we believe a system has merit we will also tell this to people.

I see where you’re coming from and perhaps I didn’t explain myself 100%. Sometimes it is hard to get your point across on here without writing a novel.
No I don’t consider 30 days long term, nor the 45 days that we generally conduct a review over. BUT…
(1) We can only give a view of any system for people to make up their own mind and that is what we are trying to do in our reviews.
(2) We always say to people to take the long-term view. The best system in the world can have a couple of bad months. This is when people “without discipline”, as maneman correctly points out, consider the system to have failed and give up.
We would love to have the resources to have continuous reviews running of every system. But unfortnately we live in the real world and we try to get through a broad selection of systems to give as many people as possible something to make their mind up over.

I have no axe to grind on behalf of the good Dr. – but I did just wonder about 1 month in 24. I see the strike rate during the test period was a little over 90% – but I would not want a lossof 70 points!
However……….the other angle gave a profit of 150 points. Now, if I could perhaps run them both and get a nett monthly PROFIT of 70 points……………..
For me, though – it is what I would call a “brown trouser system” and is well outside the odds on which I would blow £50 a month.
I understand Colin and you are right. Your last sentence is also a good example of what I believe we should be assessing systems on. Perhaps we should introduce a “brown trouser’ometer” for a system review. Our readership comes from a wide variety of backgrounds (betting wise) therefore, we should be raising a flag when the “brown trouser’ometer” starts to move from a shade of beige to mahaogany.

Don’t normally post but I am attaching my results of the SafeLayBets for the last two weeks.
My numbers of qualifying bets seem to differ from those you are reporting an example would be 29 May where I only have 5 qualifying bets with a profit of approximately 5 pts (note I have loss recovery switched on to cover some previous personal bets nothing to do with SafeLayBets) where as you report “All Selections 9 NR 1 Winners 1 Losers 7. Loss on day -1.99pts” . Note I am using a Bot with the settings recommended of min 8 max 40, £150 liability, however I do allow for inrunning bets which generally increases my return f they kick in – note I have connection issues (slow internet due to overseas location) so for shorter races this practically never happens.

Thanks for your contribution it is much appreciated.
I have edited out the selections from your post because this is really not the place to be discussing this in SUCH detail.
The system will be liable to some small differences particularly between taking SP and someone who is using a bot as the odds can fluctuate depending on the settings of the bot.
But the overall result of Safe Lay Bets for this review still remains, it hasn’t performed well at all and that is not going to change by reanalysing another set of results.
At the end of the day it is 80 points down as of day 33, whether it is 30, 40 or 50 points down using another set of results is immaterial.
